Give The Driver a Break

Dear colleague

INVITATION TO THE LAUNCH OF “GIVE THE DRIVER A BREAK” 2008

The Lake District National Park Authority and Friends of the Lake District invite you to the Kirkstone Pass Inn on Friday 18th April at 11.30 am to celebrate the launch of “Give the Driver a Break” – leaflets describing some of the best bus journeys in the National Park – Langdale, Borrowdale, Kentmere, Ullswater, Honister and Buttermere, Coniston and Hawkshead, Windermere and Bowness and Kirkstone.

There will be some brief talks from the Lake District National Park Authority, Friends of the Lake District, Cumbria Tourism and John Jennings of the Kirkstone Pass Inn about the project.

In addition to the general “Give the Driver a Break” leaflets, we are launching a new series of leaflets covering the Ullswater Connexion (Keswick to Patterdale) and the Kirkstone Rambler (Bowness to Glenridding). We have worked with a number of businesses along the two routes to provide information on days out for their guests using the buses. This will also be an opportunity to thank these businesses for their support, as many have given generous discounts to users of these two services.

The event will be a chance to find out more about the project, collect leaflets and network with organisations and businesses.

Stagecoach have kindly agreed to provide a special Kirkstone Rambler bus service for the event, which will be picking up in Kendal and Windermere to go to the launch. If you would like to take advantage of this service, please contact Judith Moore. If you are unable to join the bus, please consider car sharing – if you would like information on who else is attending, again, please contact Judith.

John and Gail Jennings, owners of the Kirkstone Pass Inn, have generously offered to provide light refreshments for the event, so please help us with arrangements and let us know whether or not you are able to attend by Monday 14 April 2008. (Contact details below).

We look forward to seeing you at the Kirkstone Pass Inn.

Yours sincerely

Judith Moore and David Robinson
